Physical therapy
Physical therapists (PTs) work with you to improve strength, coordination and balance, and to restore motion. They focus on the large muscles of the body, working to help you do all the things you need to do to take care of yourself and stay healthy. PTs develop an exercise program to help you improve your independence and, if needed, recommend equipment such as walkers or canes for balance and walking.
Occupational therapy
Occupational therapists (OTs) focus on activities you do in everyday life, including dressing, meal preparation and showering. They provide strategies for improving memory and suggest services to help you be successful at home. OTs assist you in maximizing strength and endurance and, if needed, recommend equipment such as shower chairs, reachers and dressing aids that can enhance your independence.
Speech therapy
Speech-language pathologists work with you to improve your ability to communicate with others. They teach techniques for improving memory, problem solving and judgment. Speech therapists also assess and treat various swallowing disorders and recommend a safe and appropriate diet.
