He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. His clinical practice is at SMDC-Center Therapy Sports Medicine Clinic, Duluth, MN. He was the content provider and co-developer of Mulligan Home Exercise and Taping Techniques DVDs. He has provided online continuing education courses in the Mulligan Concept through Northeast Seminars.

Course Description:
This one day seminar is intended to introduce a new and simple approach in manual therapy. It is the application of mobilizations with movements (MWMs). This manual therapy approach has been developed by Brian R. Mulligan, F.N.Z.S.P., Dip. M.T. for extremity and spinal joint dysfunction. The course is designed for health care professionals who wish to broaden their knowledge and use of manual therapy within their defined scope of practice. This course will provide the foundations of understanding the Mulligan Concept and enable participants to transition into the sequence of courses required to qualify as a Certified Mulligan Practitioner (CMP).  Specifically the course is intended for Occupational Therapists or Physical Therapists who primarily deal with Upper Extremity dysfunction.  Basic cervical spine techniques will also be covered to enable the therapist to treat or  refer the client for further consultation / treatment.
This is an innovative approach in the field of physical therapy and all therapists dealing with musculoskeletal disorders should become acquainted with it. The efficacy of this approach can be quickly and easily ascertained in clinic. MWM skills will be learned and it is an expectation of this course that those therapists with normal caseload will find an immediate improvement in outcome measures with patients with restricted and/or painful movement.

*This course is eligible for AOTA Approved Provider credit. The assignment of AOTA CEU's does not imply endorsement of specific course content, products or clinical procedures by AOTA.*
*This course is eligible for MN Board of PT Category 1 continuing education credit.*

Course Objectives:
All participants will gain an understanding of Mulligan’s concept of Mobilization with Movement. As a result, the participant will have enhanced assessment skills when examining extremity and cervical spinal joints. They will have the guidelines necessary to apply, when indicated, painless techniques to improve joint function. As with all manual techniques, handling skills are paramount and at the end of the program, the true professional will have enhanced their skills and be able to further develop this new field of Mobilization with Movement.  Participants will also learn home exercises and taping techniques to compliment the concept of MWM as described by Brian Mulligan.

Lab Attire:
Course participants should be able to expose the upper quarter.  Hair must be able to kept off the shoulder / pulled back.  It is advantageous to trim fingernails to improve palpation and manual therapy treatment.
