Scott Crowe, MD is a board certified physiatrist and faculty at the University of Minnesota since 2006. His clinical practice is primarily in neruorehabilitation with particular interests in multiple sclerosis, spinal cord injury/disorders, stroke and movement disorders. He has had a long history at the UofM having compleated undergraduate in chemical engineering, medical school and PM&R residendy there. He enjoys teaching and is active with medical student and resident education as well as instruction in the DPT pathophysiology course and OT cranial nerve lecture.
Course Description:
Common neurorehabilitation diagnoses include stroke, brain and spinal cord injury both traumatic and non-traumatic (tumor), movement disorders such as Parkinson’s, and demylinating disorders such as multiple sclerosis. Several rehabilitation issues arise in this population that can benefit from pharmacologic treatment. This class will provide an overview of common medications used with an emphasis on practical impact to therapist’s interventions.

Course Objectives:
For common neurorehabilitation diagnoses, be able to identify potential applications for pharmacologic treatment.
Recognize common medications used in neurorehabilitation along with their general mechanism of action.
Identify potential side effects of these medications.
Participate with in class case analyses implementing the above objectives.
