Brenda Douville, M.A., L.A.D.C., C.E.A.P. has worked in Fairview Employee Assistance Program for the past three years as an EAP Counselor. Her expertise is in counseling individuals with depression, anxiety, stress, and other mental health issues impacting one's daily life. She also focuses on working with couples in resolving conflicts or issues within their relationship. In addition, she enjoys presenting and facilitating work groups on a variety of issues from stress, communication, respectful behavior, and work life balance .
The purpose of this course is to assist healthcare employees in evaluating their work/non-work life balance and developing strategies to improve overall satisfaction with their lives. Participants will take a stress inventory, evaluate their work/life balance and set goals.
1. Describe what is meant by work/life balance.
2. Identify personal sources of stress and style under stress.
3. Evaluate personal life balance.
4. Develop SMART goals to improve quality of life.
6-6:30 p.m. Discussion of work/life balance and it impact on quality of life
6:30-7 p.m. Take a stress inventory and discuss results
7-7:20 p.m. Discussion on the barriers healthcare providers have for self-care; identify ways to
7:20-7:50 p.m. Complete life balance wheel; develop SMART goals
