See how our vision-correction services can help you

The Eye Care Center at Fairview Southdale Hospital offers complete eye surgery options. Our eye care team includes eye surgeons and nurses who specialize in finding out the cause of and treating all kinds of eye problems in adults.

The procedures we perform have proven safe and effective in correcting even some of the most severe vision problems. See how the surgical services offered at the Eye Care Center can improve your quality of life through improved eyesight.

iLASIK
The Eye Care Center at Fairview Southdale Hospital is the first in the Twin Cities to offer iLASIK. This “bladeless” procedure takes only minutes because the incisions are made with lasers. Most iLASIK patients have 20/20 vision or better after the surgery.

Trabectome® Surgery for Glaucoma
Trabectome® is a minimally invasive procedure specifically designed to treat glaucoma. It improves fluid drainage from the eye and balance pressure to stabilize eye health and minimize further vision damage. The surgery is done through a small incision and diseased tissue is removed. The Trabectome® allows the eye to heal very quickly. This is done as an outpatient procedure and allows you to go home the same day.

Corneal surgery
An improperly curved cornea may be corrected surgically to reduce or eliminate the need for eyeglasses or contact lenses. A thorough eye examination and consultation are necessary before a treatment decision can be made.

Cataract surgery
A cataract is a cloudiness that develops within the lens of the eye. The removal of cataract is one of the most commonly performed surgical procedures in this country and is also one of the most successful procedures. It is usually performed as an outpatient procedure, which means that you do not have to stay in the hospital overnight.

Eyelid and oculoplastic surgery
Eyelid and oculoplastic surgery is a common method of treatment for entropion (inward turning of the eyelid), ectropion (outward turning of the eyelid), chalazion, blepharoplasty, ptosis (drooping of the eyelid), and some eyelid tumors. Eyelid surgery is usually an outpatient procedure with local anesthesia. To most people, the improvement in vision, comfort and appearance after eyelid surgery is very gratifying.

Refractive lens implants
In this procedure, our surgeon replaces the eye's natural lens with an artificial lens designed to correct your vision
