Your Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota health plan coverage gives you a choice of two preferred pharmacies for your specialty medications. We are the Midwest-based specialty pharmacy, and are affiliated with Fairview Health Services and the University of Minnesota Medical Center. Just as you have a physician who is a specialist, it makes sense to have a pharmacist who is a specialist in your medication needs.
What are Specialty Medications?
Specialty drugs are used to treat serious or chronic medical conditions such as multiple sclerosis, hemophilia, hepatitis and rheumatoid arthritis. They’re typically injectable and can be self-administered by a patient or family member. For questions about the program, please call the customer service number on the back of your member ID card.
How do I get them?
Fairview Specialty Pharmacy will deliver specialty medications at the time and place you need them – including your home, work or other convenient location.
How often will the pharmacy call me?
To make sure you never run out of your medications, Fairview Specialty Pharmacy staff will call you 5 to 7 days before your prescription refill is due.
Will it cost me any more to use Fairview Specialty Pharmacy?
No. Your copay and deductible for specialty medications will be as low as possible because of our preferred status in the Blue Cross network.
