At Fairview, staff strive to use all available knowledge and research to offer you the best diagnosis, treatment and prevention. Those efforts include standardizing treatments for such diseases as diabetes, children’s asthma and others, so that patients consistently receive the most up-to-date treatments.

What measures is Fairview tracking?

Clinic care:

To track clinic care, staff use measures from Minnesota Community Measurement, a group that reports and tracks the following standard measures for 54 Minnesota medical groups:

• Asthma
• Diabetes
• Ischemic vascular disease (clogging of the arteries)
• High blood pressure
• Health screenings for chlamydia; and breast, colon and cervical cancer

We are proud of our record of effective diabetes care, which is among the best in the community.

Hospital inpatient care:

Fairview is tracking inpatient care using the following measures as part of a national hospital quality project sponsored by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS):

• Heart attack
• Heart bypass
• Heart failure
• Pneumonia
• Hip and knee replacement

Early scores on these measures put several Fairview metro hospitals among the top 10 percent in the country.
