Fairview works with local communities throughout much of Minnesota and parts of Wisconsin.  Community health makes a difference in the communities we serve through a wide variety of partnerships and activities.  We begin by assessing the health needs of the geographic regions Fairview serves. 

After an initial assessment of the communities assets and risks we then can target our community programs to address some of the areas identified by the assessments by working in partnership with community organizations such as schools, congregations and public and private agencies. 

Our preventive “upstream” approach focuses on protecting and promoting the health of the community as a whole – helping people stay healthy and reducing risks to their health. 

Fairview featured in national flu guide

The Minnesota Immunization Networking Initiative (MINI) is featured in a new guide produced by the Center for Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services with support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The guide, H1N1 Flu: A Guide for Community and Faith-Based Organizations, provides guidance to community organizations on how to communicate with community members about the flu and develop local partnerships. The Fairview-sponsored MINI Project is featured in the guide, with lessons learned from the project and guidance to other communities interested in setting up a similar partnership. MINI partners with community groups to immunize minorities and uninsured Twin Citians against influenza. The project provides free annual flu shots at non-clinical, non-traditional settings such as churches and community centers. Learn more about MINI.
