As a nonprofit organization, Fairview lives its mission by actively reaching out to improve the health of people in the communities we serve—whether they’re our patients or not. That’s true for Fairview as an organization—and for the individuals who work here.
We step up when we see a need
For instance, Fairview’s Minnesota Immunization Networking Initiative (MINI) has provided more than 52,000 free flu shots to underserved people at more than 150 multicultural sites since it began in 2006. Close to 150 Fairview health care professionals serve as volunteer vaccinators at these flu shot clinics.
In 2014, more than 1,600 people walked as part of Team Fairview in two important community walks. Each year, Fairview partners with the American Heart Association and March of Dimes to raise funds and awareness for their research and support programs. In 2014, Team Fairview raised a combined total of more than $220,000 in support of healthy hearts and healthy babies.
Fairview also offers many free or low-cost health and education programs to the broader community. Our Youth Grief Services program is just one example. It provides a range of support and education services for grieving children who have experienced a loss of a loved one—and for the adults who care for them. As a community service of Fairview, all of the services are offered free of charge.
All told, Fairview provided more than $520 million in benefits to our community in 2014. Read our Community Benefit report for more detail.
We do this through:
- Community health partnerships and education programs
- Uncompensated care and discounts we provide to uninsured and under-insured patients
- Our support of medical research and the education of health care workers.
Support us in giving to our community
As a nonprofit, Fairview relies on the community to support us in our work to improve the health of our patients and our communities as a whole. You can support us in many ways: as a donor, a volunteer, an employee or simply as an engaged community member who follows what we do.
